Schwarzenegger Reveals Details Of Affair, Illegitimate Son In New Book

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed intimate details of his personal life in a new tell-all book.

One chapter in "Total Recall", however, is getting all of the attention.

It details the moment he was confronted by ex-wife Maria Shriver about fathering a child with a housekeeper.

According to the New York Daily News, which received a copy of the memoir, Schwarzenegger wrote:

"The minute we sat down (at couple's counseling), the therapist turned to me and said, 'Maria wanted to come here today to ask about a child…whether you fathered a child with your housekeeper, Mildred.' I told the therapist 'It's true.'"

Schwarzenegger opened up about the autobiography to Lesley Stahl in a 60 Minutes episode that will air on Sunday.

Stahl asked the former governor what Shriver thought about the book.

"Maria is wishing me well with everything that I do," he said.

Schwarzenegger said she hasn't read the book.

"She knows it's about my whole life. And that I would not write a book and leave out that part…and make people feel like, 'Are we just getting a story about his success stories and not talk about his failures,'" he said.

Simon & Schuster, a CBS company, is the publisher behind "Total Recall."
