Purple Corduroy: Wine, Waves & Good Times

The swell of an ocean is a powerful potion, and three bros from Laguna Beach have set their sights on producing their own blend of surf culture. Jeff "Dr. Riptide" Farthing, Steven "SLi Dawg" Chew and Brandy "Brandavi" Faber are the surf gods behind the Purple Corduroy brand.

What's with the name? Purple symbolizes the map when the ocean is swelling, as well as when the grapes are growing. Corduroy are the waves breaking relentlessly and vineyard rows of vines.

The surf trio decided it was time to create something new to be shared with friends, get creative and 'ride the Purple Corduroy.' And so it began this past year. Already the California-culture inspired company is making waves around Orange County with their varietals being enjoyed in OC restaurants and bars. Find it at Dizz's As Is, La Sirena in South Laguna, Olamendi's in Laguna Beach, Corona Del Mar Wine Gallery, DaVine Food & Wine in Dana Point Harbor and Laguna Beach Wine Gallery.

The Red Siren Zinfandel and brand new Blonde Siren are the two varietals they're produce as part of their Siren Series. Both are cellared and bottled by Purple Corduroy in Lodi, California.

Pick your nightlife of choice and pair with your favorite foodie scene. "The red pairs with burgers, steak and pasta, and the Blonde is best with sushi, shellfish, Thai, Chinese and Mexican foods," says Brandy. But hey, it's all good, pick what you want, pour the Purple Corduroy, then feel the stoke of good times with good friends.
