Motorists Pledge For 'It Can Wait -- No Texting While Driving Day'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has declared Wednesday "It Can Wait – No Texting While Driving Day" to commemorate AT&T's national Don't Text and Drive Pledge Day.

Pop stars Ryan Beatty and Jasmine Villegas will address local YMCA high school students Wednesday at noon at the Weingart East LA YMCA, where thousands of teens are expected to make a lifelong pledge to not text behind the wheel.

These pledges will then be presented to Jace Barbin, AT&T's Vice President and General Manager for greater Los Angeles.

Those who text behind the wheel are 23 times more likely to be in a car accident, according to the campaign.

To pledge, visit It Can Wait.
