Brothers Arrested After Allegedly Having Knife Fight In Front Of Their Grandmother

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — Two brothers, one of whom was out on parole, were arrested Thursday after getting in a raucous fight in Burbank, police reported.

Officers were called to the 1900 block of Victory Boulevard at approximately 5 p.m., after receiving a report of a fight in the area, Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said.

Police arrested Rodney Matheney, 50, and his brother Wilbert, 48, for allegedly fighting over a bicycle.

The two had allegedly been fighting with knives, a barbeque fork and a piece of pipe.

Officers found the men's grandmother sitting in a car nearby, which had a back window that had been smashed by the older brother during the fight. The grandmother was reportedly not hurt during the altercation.

Wilbert, who is on parole, was arrested on suspicion of making terrorist threats and denied bail.

Rodney had three warrants for his arrest, Ryburn said. His bail was set at $141,000.

Both are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
