Irvine Chiropractor Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Female Patient During Massage

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — An Irvine chiropractor is facing two felony assault charges Wednesday after his arrest on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female patient.

Dennis Scott Durbin, 65, was arrested at his office, Sky Park Chiropractic, after a patient reported being touched in an inappropriate and sexual manner during a therapeutic massage in July 2012.

A 28-year-old woman from Orange County told Irvine Police she first went to see Durbin for relief from neck pain. Police say Durbin offered to add massage to her treatment program.

On her third visit, Durban allegedly touched the woman inappropriately and sexually assaulted her.

Durbin shares Sky Park Chiropractic with another doctor on alternating days, but that is their only connection, Irvine police Lt. Julia Engen said.

Durbin was being held on charges of sexual battery and penetration with a foreign object in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday.

Detectives say Durbin may have convinced other women to submit to similar massage treatments that evolved into criminal conduct.

Anyone with information about Durbin can call Detective Victoria Hurtado at (949) 724-7194.
