LL Cool J's Alleged Intruder Pleads Not Guilty

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — The transient who allegedly broke into LL Cool J's home last week pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a residential burglary charge.

Jonathan Kirby, 56, is accused of breaking into the "NCIS: Los Angeles" actor's Studio City home around 1 a.m. August 22.

The rapper, who real name is James Todd Smith, got into an altercation with Kirby during the attempted burglary and broke his nose and jaw.

Smith, who was not injured in the incident, detained Kirby until authorities arrived.

The suspect is in jail on $1.1 million bail until a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 10 in Van Nuys Superior Court.
