Minor Quake Recorded Near Indio

INDIO (CBSLA.com) — A minor quake with a magnitude of 3.3 has struck near Indio.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was recorded at 2:53 a.m. Sunday.

The temblor was centered 11 miles north-northeast of Indio and 13 miles north of Coachella.

Earthquakes in the magnitude-3 range rarely cause structural damage but are strong enough to be perceptible.

Some residents as far as Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and Van Nuys reported feeling the quake on the USGS website.
