Authorities said they were able to apprehend the suspects because a good Samaritan followed them from the store and called police.

At 10 a.m., the two gunmen walked into JMC Tires, located at 207 East Baseline Street, wearing masks and toting handguns, Lt. Paul Williams said.

Without a word, police said the men opened fire.

"They just started shoooting all over the place," said Yolanda Cordova Hinojosa, whose daughter, son-in-law and grandson were in the shop at the time.

The gunmen killed an employee and a customer, who police say they were targeting.

Family members identified the employee as Elias Esparza, who had a wife and daughter. Customers said went out of his way to help people.

The suspects then fled in a silver car.

"A great anonymous citizen followed that vehicle and let us know where it was at...," Williams said.

Police caught up to the suspects' vehicle soon after, parked within a mile of tire store.

Officers said they found evidence in the vehicle that tied the men to the crime.

Investigators said they arrested three people. They said they don't know the motive for the crime.
