Heartbroken Friend Remembers Pal Likely Killed In Yosemite Tragedy

YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — Zachary Cavish misses his young friend.

"It's really sad to explain though."

Stacey Butler, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, spoke to a heartbroken Cavish and his mother, about the likely drowning of the boy's friend, 6-year-old Jacob Adams.

The 6-year-old is presumed drowned after he and his step-brother, 10-year-old Andy Adams, fell into the rapids of the Merced River in a tragedy at Yosemite National Park Wednesday.

Jacob's body has not been recovered.

"He was kind," said Cavish.

The two played together and went trick-or-treating this past Halloween at the Yorba Linda apartment complex where both reside.

Cavish's mom, Carol, is not sure her son understands that Jacob is still missing. She was also friends with Jacob's mother, Sharlene Hargis-- they went through their pregnancies together. "They used to always walk by, back and forth to the pool, so until he doesn't see that, I don't think it's really processed yet."

Zachary Cavish believes his friend "might be having fun right now. In heaven. Heaven's a good place to be."

Carol is worried about her friend losing two children. "I don't know how she's gonna handle it."

Neighbors told Butler that Hargis has just married Angelo Adams two weeks ago.  Jacob is their biological son together, Andy is her step-son.

Jacob's friends are trying hard to understand the possible loss of their friend.

This tight-knit community is banding together in prayer.

Friend and neighbor Athena Fotopoulos says, "Hopefully the mom gets better...not as sad."
