A Santa Monica Secret: Social Sundays at the Viceroy

Cool ocean breeze, a tall champagne flute full of bubbly, tri-tip and ribs on the grill, fresh fruits and salads prepared by a Top Chef and relaxing live acoustic music. For a while, I thought I was on vacation in Hawaii!

Although I was not on a tropical island, my relaxing Sunday was something I definitely can't complain about. My mini vacation was at the Viceroy in Santa Monica. I have been to the Viceroy on several occasions but they were always on a Friday or Saturday night for a drink. This was my first time on a Sunday and I wish I had known about this sooner.

It is no longer Santa Monica's best kept secret because I'm here to give you the inside scoop. From 5:00 - 8:00 PM every Sunday from now until Sunday, September 30, 2012, guests are invited to enjoy the perfect summer weather on the Whist patio. This is accompanied by an All-American grill dinner menu for just $25/pp, weekly specialty drinks ($10 Market Inspired Cocktails and $10 Beer Flights), fun board games and live music. I saw families, couples, groups of friends, kids; there were people of all ages enjoying their lazy Sunday. The atmosphere at Viceroy's Social Sundays is something everyone can definitely sit back and relax to.

Definitely come hungry because there is enough food and drinks for everyone. The picnic style dishes are created and prepared by Chef Chris Crary and his culinary team. If you watch Bravo's Top Chef, then you will recognize him from Season 9 as the Fan Favorite chef. On most Sundays you can catch him grilling away farm fresh vegetables and a variety of different meats. Dinner is buffet style, so do not be shy and help yourselves to more than one plate.
