Turn A Modest House Into A Beautiful Home With Tips From TV's Eric Stromer

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Does your home need a face lift? If so, home repair expert and TV personality Eric Stromer has some ideas that will spruce up any space!

Stromer visited the KCAL 9 studios Wednesday to share with viewers some easy fix-it tips. He is the star of HGTV's "Over Your Head" and TLC's "Clean Sweep." His new show, "Hideous Houses," is now on A&E on Saturdays at 10 a.m.

Easy fixes around the home:

1. Install a Dimmer Switch
-It is an immediate and inexpensive way to create mood lighting in any space
2. Silverware Organizer
-With kids around the home and different schedules, it is easy for silverware and various kitchen products to get a build-up. With a simple organizer and quick clean, you have an easy way of knowing where things are at all times!
3. TV Remote
-With so many hands on the remote at any given time, we never stop to think about what is on the buttons (yuck!) With a damp cloth, 50% water and 50% rubbing alcohol, you can give those buttons a clean swipe.
4. Hard water stain removal
-Who knew fruit could double as a cleaner! Cut a lemon in half and rub the lemon over the affected water stained area, rinse with water and you are done! Works like a brand new fixture
5. Cleaning filthy baked on over grime
-Take ½ cup of baking soda and add water until the paste is thick like peanut butter. Apply it to the affected area and let it sit for 15 minutes. Once time is up, wipe clean and voila! No grime, no grease.
