Coach Who Admitted To Sex With Swim Student Arrested Again

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A man who pleaded guilty last fall to having sex with one of his 15-year-old swimming school students was arrested again on suspicion of having sex with another teenage girl, authorities said Thursday.

Todd Robert Sousa, 38, pleaded guilty on Oct. 28 to 13 felony counts of lewd acts on a child, three felony counts of unlawful sex and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. As part of a plea deal, Sousa served just a portion of a 16-month sentence and was released from prison on July 1.

Sousa co-owned Swim Venture Inc. of Laguna Hills with his wife. Sousa went to prison for picking up a 15-year-old girl and her friend from Irvine Spectrum and driving them to his office, where he gave both teenagers alcohol. He had sex with one of the girls in another room, while her friend waited.

He was arrested again Wednesday night in Tustin, after another 15-year-old swimming school student told authorities she also had sex with him at a hotel near Disneyland, where the two agreed to meet, according to Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.

Sousa is also accused of sexually assaulting the girl in an office in Lake Forest between August 2010 and February of last year, Amormino said.

An informant contacted sheriff's deputies after Sousa was released from prison, and investigators tracked down the alleged victim.

Sousa, who was booked on suspicion of child molestation and underage sex, was being held on $200,000 bail, Amormino said.
