Gunman Allegedly Steals Car, Evades Police
SANTA FE SPRINGS (CBS) —A gunman accused of stealing a car and evading police for about five hours in Santa Fe Springs was arrested Monday.
The car, which was allegedly stolen around 8 a.m., was equipped with a LoJack system. That device helped the California Highway Patrol initially find the vehicle.
However, the suspect managed to flee and led police on a brief chase, which ended on Claymore Street near the 605 and Telegraph Road.
KCAL9's Sky9 watched as CHP and Whittier police set up a perimeter search around one of the homes on Claymore.
The search lasted several hours, but the suspect was finally taken into custody around 1:30 p.m. at the home of a relative, according to reports.
