Murrieta Man, 44, Accused Of Raping, Robbing Woman In Temecula Hotel

TEMECULA (CBS) — A Murrieta man accused in the rape and robbery of a woman at a Temecula motel was behind bars Sunday, a sheriff's department spokesman said.

Melbrough Williams Jr., 44, was arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta Saturday on suspicion of kidnapping, rape and robbery, said sheriff's Sgt. Kevin McDonald.

On June 28, deputies received a report that a woman had been raped and robbed at gunpoint inside her motel room at the Quality Inn in Temecula.

Costa Mesa police arrested Williams Friday after investigators tracked him to that city, McDonald said.
