Cruz, Dodgers Beat Cardinals For 5th Straight Win

ST. LOUIS (CBS) – Luis Cruz hit a three run homer and Chad Billingsley pitched six strong innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers won their fifth straight game, beating the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-3.

Billingsley went six innings, allowing one run to pick-up his fifth win of the season.

"I think Chad just got enough big outs and was using enough of his pitches, throwing enough strikes," Don Mattingly said. "We weren't going to try to get anymore tonight, for sure."

DODGERS TRADE RUMORS

St. Louis had a 1-0 lead, when Cruz belted his second career homer, giving the Dodgers a 3-1 in the second inning.

In the seventh, Mark Ellis' double scored AJ Ellis and Tony Gwynn Jr. and the Dodgers took a 5-1 lead into the eighth.

The Cardinals cut the Dodgers' lead to 5-3 when Carlos Beltran took Ronald Belisario's fastball into the stands for his 22nd homer of the season.

Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 19th save of the season.
