Warner Bros. Not Releasing Box Office Figures

LOS ANGELES (CBS) —Warner Bros. Pictures will not release box office estimates this weekend out of respect for the July 20 murders of 12 Batman fans at a Colorado theater.

Other studios will likely join the blackout in a symbol of respect and solidarity, according to Hollywood.com's Paul Dergarabedian.

The columnist, who issues box office predictions each weekend, said the studios are telling him they may release box office figures Monday.

The Hollywood industry joined the rest of the nation in confusion and mourning after Friday morning's shootings at a post-midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colo.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the tragic events in Colorado," Dergarabedian said in a statement.
