Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (July 16)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — As we say hello to Monday, we say goodbye to the extreme heat and humidity that hit us hard last week...at least for a few days.

A strong on-shore flow has developed and we will wake up with some low clouds. The marine layer is running at 2000' deep this morning. Look for a few degrees of cooling from yesterday's 79 degree high.

There is a cut-off low pressure center dropping down the west coast and that will help to strengthen the marine layer significantly tomorrow. Consequently we will cool a couple more degrees. Our daytime highs downtown should only reach into the low to mid 70s.

We are also watching the trajectory of what was once Hurricane Fabio, the remnants of this tropical storm are expected to travel through the area late Wednesday and Thursday. It will definitely translate into some cloud cover for the area, but more importantly it will increase our thunderstorm and shower chance for the middle of the week. By next weekend the high pressure starts to creep into the forecast so we will warm up...and by the beginning of next week we will see the return of some monsoonal moisture.

Beaches - upper 60s
Basin - mid 70s
Valleys - low 80s
Deserts -upper 80s
Mountains -low 70s
