Man Behind Bars On Suspicion Of Stealing Copper From Rancho Mirage Library

PALM DESERT (CBS) — A man suspected of stealing copper from a public library in Rancho Mirage was behind bars on Friday.

Deputies said in a news release that they received information from a recycling business in Banning regarding copper which was recently sold to them.

Following an investigation, deputies say the copper fit the description of copper sheets stolen from the Rancho Mirage Library on July 2.

Authorities subsequently arrested 45-year-old Steven Cain at his home in Palm Desert.

Cain was booked into the Riverside County Jail on suspicion of grand theft, felony vandalism, possession of stolen property and commercial burglary, deputies added.
