Convicted Sex Offender Wearing Ankle Monitor Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Woman

LANCASTER (CBS) — A parolee wearing an ankle monitor was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in the parking lot of an auto parts store.

Corey Green, 41, who is on active parole for sexual assault and is currently a registered sex offender, is scheduled to appear in court Friday on charges of attempted rape, penetration with a foreign object and sexual battery.

Sheriff's deputies say Green approached a 37-year-old woman, claiming to be a mechanic. When the woman refused an offer to help, Green allegedly became angry, pinned her against the vehicle and began sexually assaulting her.

A store employee walking in the parking lot interrupted the attack, and the woman told the employee she had just been assaulted by the suspect, who was walking away, authorities said.

Deputies say the employee jumped in his car and began following the suspect while on the phone with his coworkers. The employee followed Green toward the Courson Park area, near 11th Street East and Avenue Q12, where he lost sight of him, according to deputies.

Green was detained by deputies walking on 10th Street, walking away from the Courson Park area.
