LAPD Arrests Man, 27, For Allegedly Forcing 15-Year-Old Girl To Work As Prostitute

LOS ANGELES (CBS) —  Los Angeles police Wednesday said they arrested a 27-year-old man who allegedly forced a 15-year-old girl to work as a prostitute.

James Grady III, arrested June 28, is charged with four counts of lewd acts on a child and one count each of pimping a minor under 16, pandering by procuring a minor under 16, assault with a firearm and receiving stolen property.

The criminal complaint alleges that the crimes occurred between Jan. 12 and May 1.

Aside from forcing her to work as a prostitute, Grady allegedly forced the girl to perform sexual acts on him and meet daily income targets, according to Los Angeles police spokesman Cleon Joseph. In at least one instance in which the girl did not turn over enough money, he allegedly held a Taser  to her skin.

Another time, he put a barrel of a rifle under the woman's chin and told her he would kill her and her family if she did bring in the amount of money he demanded, police said.

Grady was locked up in lieu of $375,000 bail and is due in Los Angeles Superior Court Friday.

Los Angeles police with the department's Human Trafficking Unit started investigating Grady based on information relayed to detectives in May by authorities with the Riverside County Juvenile Probation Department.
