Upland Police Search For Driver Who Struck And Killed Man, 53

UPLAND (CBS) — Police in Upland are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a 53-year-old man Saturday night.

Mark Braley was struck around 9:15 p.m. in the 300 block of Arrow Highway, near 3rd Avenue, according to authorities.

Officials say Braley was struck by 3 vehicles and the scene was gruesome.

Police believe Braley was first hit by a dually truck. That driver did not stop. Authorities are unsure of the truck's make and model.

Braley was then hit by at least two more vehicles. Those drivers stopped and called police.

Braley, the married father of a 3-year-old daughter, died at the scene. His wife, Arla Braley, says the couple was married 12 years.

She said he worked hard as an elevator technician specialist. "He loved our daughter immensely."

Arla Braley, is begging the truck driver -- or witnesses -- to come forward. "Anyone with any little bit of information. One little bit. Anything ... anything that can help to find the person that did this. Please. Let somebody know."

Braley's widow told Rachel Kim, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, that her little girl was too young to understand why "daddy isn't coming home."

She said, "Every time the garage door opens now, she screams 'Daddy's home.'" Braley added, "I still can't believe he's not here ... with me."

Upland police are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact them.
