Bieber was driving his chrome-colored Fisker Karma on the 101 Freeway around 11 a.m. when he was pulled over by two CHP officers at Vineland Avenue and Ventura Boulevard, officials said.
Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine claims he saw Bieber driving at speeds of over 100 mph as the young pop star attempted to — his claim — get away from paparazzi.
Zine, a former police officer, says Bieber was weaving in and out of traffic, which prompted him to call 911.READ MORE: Man Suspected Of Stealing Truck Taken Into Custody Following Pursuit
Bieber’s manager tells TMZ that Zine “is just a councilman looking for a headline” and that Bieber was cited for allegedly going 80 miles per hour.
The Fisker Karma is a hybrid vehicle made in Finland. The singer reportedly received the sports car, valued at more than $102,000, for his 18th birthday earlier this year.
Zine told CBS2 and KCAL9, “If I was still working as a LAPD motorcycle supervisor I would have arrested him for reckless driving.”MORE NEWS: LA Firefighters Respond To Fire At Suspected Marijuana Grow Operation In Canoga Park
Carter Evans, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, says the CHP is now investigating Bieber’s claims that he was being chased by paparazzi.
