Girl, 15, With Dangerous Medical Condition Reported Missing

[UPDATE: Thursday 6 p.m.] Salena Garrett was safely located and had been staying with a close friend, according to the LAPD. Garrett appeared to be in good health but was transported to a local hospital for observation due to her medical status.

LOS ANGELES (CBS) —  Police detectives are asking for the public's help in finding a missing 15-year-old girl whose family says is dealing with a life-threatening medical condition.

Salena Garrett was last seen Friday at her home in the 600 block of South Commonwealth Avenue in the Westlake District of Los Angeles.

Garrett has gone missing before, but this time medical problems that could threaten her life make it more important to locate her, police said..

Garrett is black, 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She was wearing a light blue shirt and jeans and has both ears and a right nostril pierced. She also has a scar on her right thigh.

Garrett is known to hang out on the beach, in Hollywood and on Crenshaw Boulevard.
