Josh Rubsenstein's Weather Forecast (July 2)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Welcome to the first week of July!

A coastal eddy is spinning up in the channel, so expect some low clouds to spread inland Monday morning. We should be left with hazy sunshine for the afternoon.

Monday will look a lot like yesterday. Highs in the upper 70s in the basin to near 90 in the valleys. The high desert will hit the low 90s. This pattern stays consistent into Wednesday with only subtle changes. However for the end of the week there is a change coming. The high pressure that has been parked in the middle of the nation will start to drift to the west. That ridge of high pressure will shrink the marine layer back to the beach and our inland temperatures will start to cook. Look for highs by the end of the week and the weekend to start getting closer to 100 degrees.

Also, we will be watching the surges of moisture from the south, because as the high approaches we get a better shot at the monsoonal moisture (t-storms in our mountains and deserts). Right now the 4th looks nice...clouds in the morning and afternoon sunshine.

Beaches -low to mid 70s
Basin - upper 70s
Valleys - upper 80s to low 90s
Deserts - low 90s
Mountains -mid 70s
