Burglar Breaking Into Chino Homes To Steal Purses, Cash Visible Through Windows

CHINO (CBS) — Residents are being warned about a burglar breaking into homes through windows to steal purses or cash that he can see from outside.

The latest burglary happened Wednesday night at about 11 p.m., when a woman investigating a noise coming from her bedroom saw someone had tried to remove the screen from her window. Police believe the suspect ran away.

The suspect is believed to have tried to break into eight homes over the past five weeks. In eight of the reported incidents, the suspects broke in between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. and stole the victim's purse or cash, which was visible through the windows.

Twice, the victim encountered the suspect, who became violent and attacked the women before fleeing with her purse or cash, police said.

The suspect is described as a black or Hispanic man between the ages of 18 and 30, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, weighing between 160 and 180 pounds. Chino police do not want residents to approach or confront the suspect due to his propensity for violence.

Anyone with information about these crimes or the identity of the suspect can call the Chino Police Department at (909) 628-1234.
