COSTA MESA (CBS) — Police are on the lookout for a quartet of robbers who stole watches and jewelry from a Costa Mesa jewelry store.
The robbery happened Monday at about 9 a.m., when the four suspects came into Newport Watch Jewelry & Loan and one of them gave an employee jewelry to be cleaned, Costa Mesa police said.
After the employee went into the back to clean the jewelry, police say the suspects brandished their handguns. They assaulted a second employee and tied him up.
When the first employee returned from cleaning the jewelry, the robbers tied up that person and began to steal watches and jewelry.
The value of the stolen jewelry was not available Thursday.
The suspects fled the scene in a red, 4-door Jeep Liberty, with a spare tire on the rear. Two of the suspects were captured on surveillance video.
Anyone with information on this robbery can call Costa Mesa police Detective Hanson at (714) 754-5162.
