1 Killed In Collision With Suspected DUI Driver In Jefferson Park

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — One person was killed on Saturday after being struck by a suspected drunken driver in the Jefferson Park section of Los Angeles.

The accident on Adams and Crenshaw boulevards was reported about 2:35 a.m. Saturday.

The alleged DUI driver was traveling eastbound on Adams at an excessive rate of speed, according to authorities, when he failed to stop at the red light and struck the Honda Civic, which was going south on Crenshaw.

The driver of the Civic was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected.

The other driver was rushed to an area hospital with apparent head trauma. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, manslaughter and gross negligence.
