David Arquette Files For Divorce From Wife Courteney Cox

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Actor David Arquette has filed for divorce from "Cougar Town" star and former "Friends" actress Courteney Cox.

Arquette cited irreconcilable differences in his court papers, which were filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Tuesday marks the couple's 13th anniversary.

The couple jointly announced in October 2010 that they had agreed to a "trial separation." They have a 7-year-old daughter named Coco. The court papers request that the couple share joint physical and legal custody of the girl, who will turn 8 on Wednesday.

Despite their separation, the couple appeared to remain close. They are both executive producers of "Cougar Town," and Arquette even guest-starred as a hotel concierge on the show's recent season finale.

According to the court documents, Arquette signed the divorce petition in March but did not file it until Friday. He also filed the papers "pro per," meaning he does not have an attorney.

Cox, who will turn 48 on Friday, and Arquette, 40, met in 1996 while filming "Scream."
