Developmentally Disabled Adult, 2 Kids Reported Missing In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBS) — Two children and a woman, whom authorities describe as having a maturity level of a 8-year-old, were reported missing on Saturday evening and Long Beach police are asking for the public's help.

An alert issued by the Long Beach Police Department says the children, identified as 8-year-old Sarah White and Nicholas Sanders, 6, left an apartment on Santa Fe Avenue and Spring Street about 4:45 p.m. after receiving permission to go to a fast food restaurant with 25-year-old Marie Williams.

Police said the trio arrived at an eatery by about 6 p.m. but were turned away because it was closing. Says store employee Nisit Sang, "She kinda tried to force an order but I told her I was closed and I couldn't cook anymore. So she just left and took the bus going down."

They were last seen heading northbound.

Williams, pictured here, is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a turquoise shirt, jean capris and dark tennis shoes.

White is 4 feet tall, weighs 45 pounds and has braided hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a white short sleeve shirt, jeans and pink and black tennis shoes with wheels.

Sanders is 4 feet tall and weighs 50 pounds. He has short hair and brown eyes and was wearing a long sleeve, button-down shirt, jeans and black tennis shoes.

Authorities don't suspect foul play.

The trio have been spotted at a Winco store in Lakewood last night and on a security camera in Long Beach at a train station.

CBS2 and KCAL9 reporter Jeff Nguyen spoke to the children's family.

Nicole Chandler, Nicolas' mom said, "I just want my son to come home. My son graduates from kindergarten on Tuesday."

Family friend Sarah White was visiting the Chandler's for the weekend.

Sandra Coatney, Williams' cousin and caretaker, told Nguyen her cousin watched Nicolas many times and always bought him right back.

If one encounters Williams and the children, she recommends, "Be gentle with her. She's talkative. She listens and everything. Just be gentle and help her. Go the whole mile with her and if I was you, call 911 at the same time."

Sarah' mother, Alshankia Franklin, says her daughter hasn't been around Williams before.

Chandler says, if she knew this could have happened, "I wouldn't have allowed her to take the kids out of the gate."

Anyone with more information as to the whereabouts of the trio is asked to call authorities.
