SANTA ANA (CBS) — An Orange County man who said he heard demons is headed for prison for attacking a woman in her San Clemente home.

Aikin, 19, was arrested in May of 2011 for breaking into the home of a woman he did not know while apparently high on narcotics and began kissing and choking her in front of her young children.

The victim said Aikin was yelling "Shut the windows!" and "Keep the demons away!" as he assaulted her.

"I was in bed and the kids were there next to me and this crazy guy on drugs came into my house and attacked me," she said.

She recalled how he seemed to gain strength even as she resisted and her 5-year-old son jumped on his back to protect her.

"I tried calling the cops, he knocked the phone out of my hand, and he was on top of me with his hands around my neck, and the more I struggled, the harder he squeezed and I screamed," she recalled. "Thank God someone heard me."

A U.S. Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton who was living next door heard her screaming and tried to control Aikin until deputies arrived and finally subdued him with a Taser.

In addition to prison time, Aikin will also be required to register as a sex offender.
