Burglary Suspect Barricades Self In Woodland Hills Home

WOODLAND HILLS (CBS) — A police SWAT team Monday surrounded a house in the Woodland Hills area where a man who may be armed was barricaded inside, authorities said.

(UPDATE 6 PM): The suspect surrendered just after 3 p.m.

Officers were sent to the 6700 block of Winnetka Avenue just east of Los Angeles Pierce College shortly before 5 a.m. when a woman reported that someone was trying to break into her residence, said Officer Bruce Borihanh of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations office.

The woman was interviewed by investigators, who determined that the incident apparently involved a domestic dispute, Borihanh said.

Officers determined that the man, who is in his 50s, was still inside the residence, and they summoned a SWAT team to the location, Borihanh said.
