4.0-Magnitude Quake Rattles Channel Islands Region

MALIBU (CBS) — An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.0 jolted the Channel Islands region on Tuesday.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was recorded at 10:14 p.m. Its epicenter was 30 miles from Malibu and 35 miles from Port Hueneme.

There were no immediate reports of injury or damage, according to officials.

Residents as far as Santa Monica, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and Newhall reported feeling the light quake.
