Palmdale Mayor Recovering After Suffering Heart Attack

PALMDALE (CBS) — Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford is in good condition after suffering a heart attack over the weekend.

A news release issued by the city of Palmdale said Ledford underwent an angioplasty to clear a blockage in the main artery to his chest after complaining of shortness of breath and pain in the chest.

He also reported feeling light-headed.

Ledford had been transported to Antelope Valley Hospital after delivering his remarks as guest speaker at the 17th annual Candlelight Ceremony at the Lancaster Cemetery on Sunday night.

"The Mayor and his family thank everyone for their prayers and ask for continued prayers and good thoughts," said Palmdale's Communication Manager John Mlynar. "Mayor Ledford will be resting and recuperating for the next few weeks and he expects to return to his active schedule in the very near future."
