EL MONTE (CBS) — The body of a man was discovered Thursday morning on the campus a San Gabriel Valley elementary school.

Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the body on the playground of Miramonte Elementary School in El Monte around 7:15 a.m., officials said.

Officials say he apparently hanged himself.

The area where the body was found was blocked off from students. School officials also kept children inside classrooms and the cafeteria while deputies conducted an investigation.

Thursday’s incident was the second such death on a school campus in a week.

On May 18, a 22-year-oldwoman hung herself from a tree at Brainard Elementary School in Lake View Terrace.
