Crash Shears Fire Hydrant, Geyser Damages Arco Station

PANORAMA CITY (CBS) — A two-car accident in Panorama City has sheared a high-pressure fire hydrant.

The accident occurred about 3:05 p.m. Monday in the 8300 block of Ventura Canyon Avenue near the intersection of Roscoe.

Sky9's Derek Bell, who was flying over the scene, said water could be seen shooting dozens of feet into the air.

The geyser also damaged an Arco gas station, causing half of its overhead awning to collapse.

According to authorities, at least one person was transported to an area hospital. Their current condition was not immediately known.

Bell reported that the intersection of Roscoe and Ventura Canyon has been shut down while authorities investigate.
