Grenade Found At Park In Palos Verdes Estates
PALOS VERDES ESTATES (CBS) — A grenade was found Sunday at a park in Palos Verdes Estates, sheriff's officials said.
The explosive device was found about 1:30 p.m. along the Banyan Grove Trail at the South Coast Botanic Gardens in the 26000 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The bomb squad responded to the location and determined the device wasn't explosive, sheriff's officials said. It was taken away for destruction.
The park entrance was closed for almost an hour and a half during the investigation, but outside traffic was not affected.
Officials theorize the device may have been accidentally left by a production company that recently filmed at the location.
