Marine Pleads Not Guilty In Death Of Fellow Marine's Estranged Wife

SAN DIEGO (CBS) — A staff sergeant at Camp Pendleton on Thursday plead not guilty to killing another Marine's wife while her husband was in Afghanistan.

KNX 1070's Tom Reopelle reports San Diego County prosecutors said the blood of Brittany Kilgore and a weapon were found in a vehicle belonging to Louis Ray Perez.

Prosecutor Patrick Espinoza said Kilgore, 22, reached out to a friend for help not long after she was in the company of the 45-year-old Perez.

"She sent a text to a female friend of hers indicating that she was in distress," said Espinoza.

Kilgore's body was found last week in Riverside County near Lake Skinner northeast of Murrieta.

Jessica Lopez, who also accused in the murder, apparently tried to take her own life when a suicide note left in a motel room led authorities to Kilgore's body.

Perez's bail is set at $3 million.
