Judge Unseals Transcript In Seal Beach Salon Massacre

SANTA ANA (AP) — A Southern California judge says portions of grand jury testimony about last year's deadly shooting at a Seal Beach salon can be made public.

But Orange County Superior Court Judge Thomas Goethals on Friday delayed the release of the transcript until next month to give defense attorneys the chance to appeal.

Scott Dekraai has pleaded not guilty to eight counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in the shooting that left his ex-wife and seven others dead.

Goethals said 29 pages of the 129-page transcript would remain sealed in the death penalty case.

Authorities allege that Dekraai had a phone argument with his ex-wife over custody of their 8-year-old son and then walked into her Seal Beach workplace last October and shot staff, customers and a motorist outside.
