Wife, 2 Inmates Charged In Murder Of San Bernardino Man

SAN BERNARDINO (CBS) — Police said Tuesday a San Bernardino woman and two other suspects were in custody on charges of plotting to have her husband killed for a financial windfall.

On April 6 at 5:00 p.m., the San Bernardino Police Department responded to a 911 call of suspicious circumstances at a TV and radio repair business located at 710 N. D Street and found the back door of the business open.

When the business was checked, officers found John Joseph Cone, 64, dead from apparent trauma injuries.

Investigators later determined the victim's wife, Laurie Cone, conspired to have her husband killed and arrested Cone on April 4 on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The following day, Joseph Cone's 2003 white Ford F150 quad cab truck was found abandoned in the 2600 block Orchid Drive in Highland.

Further investigation showed that two convicts, Gary Gallion, 29, and Shawna Bayless, 39, also participated in the murder. They were in custody on unrelated charges prior to being arrested on charges related to the murder.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Detective Al Tello at (909) 384-5747 or the San Bernardino Police Department Hotline at (909) 384-5656.
