'Twist It Up' With New Recipes From 11-Year-Old Chef Jack Witherspoon

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Fresh off the premiere of "Mirror Mirror," 11-year-old chef Jack Witherspoon stopped by the KCAL9 studios to share some of his latest recipes!

Jack's apple pie was the featured for dessert at the after party for the movie.

Eleven-year-old Jack has battled and overcome leukemia 3 times in his short life. First at age 2, relapsed at age 6 and then suffering another relapse this past summer at age11. His second relapse, and third bout with leukemia, resulted in him undergoing a bone marrow transplant last August. Jack's first relapse at age 6, forced him to have many hospital stays for treatment. Instead of passing the time watching cartoons he became interested in watching cooking shows. It was at this time that he developed his passion to cook. To fulfill his dream to be a chef Jack's family organized charity events in which he was the guest chef. Over the past 5 years, Jack has raised over $100,000 for leukemia research, been a spokesperson and participant with many charities and fundraisers and has attracted media attention with numerous news stations, magazines and papers. In 2009 he established his own endowment at Miller Children's Hospital and this past November had his first inspirational cookbook published by Chronicle Books. Now, recovered enough from his transplant Jack is once again living his dream of being a chef and inspiring others with his story.

His cookbook is available on Amazon and in bookstores nationwide. Part of the proceeds from his book will be donated to the Jack Witherspoon Endowment and to the Beckstrand Cancer Foundation.
