Shooting Suspect Found Dead After Hours-Long Standoff In Altadena

ALTADENA (CBS) — A man suspected of shooting his mother has been found dead inside the Altadena home where he kept authorities at bay for nearly five hours.

Police say the man in his 30s shot his mother in the leg as she ran from the home in the 3200 block of Lincoln Avenue about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Other bullets hit a car that was driving by, but no one was hurt.

According to authorities, the gunman then barricaded himself inside the home for hours prompting officials to evacuate neighboring homes.

At around 8:15 p.m., deputies reported that authorities entered the home and found the suspect's body.

Edward Lawrence, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, said authorities believed the situation was domestic and that the man was being evicted from his parents' home.

Police say the woman was transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening wound.

The identity of those involved has not been released.
