Man Arrested In NoHo For Allegedly Pointing Laser At Aircrafts

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — A man was placed under arrest in North Hollywood Thursday after police say he pointed a laser at aircrafts.

Sgt. Robert Quesada of the Burbank Police Department said the man was arrested at a home in the 6000 block of Bakman Street near Vineland and Victory boulevards.

"There were reports of an individual using a laser to point and strike aircraft," Quesada said in a statement. "A police department helicopter responded to the location and was hit approximately six times with the laser."

Quesada said Burbank police officers knocked on the door of the home and were led to the suspect, who admitted he had aimed the laser at passing aircraft.

Police say they recovered the laser inside the home and arrested the man. His name was not released.

Aiming a laser at an aircraft is punishable as a misdemeanor with up to one year in county jail or a fine of $1,000 or can be charged as a felony with up to three years in state prison or a fine of $2,000.
