Man, 26, Convicted Of Stabbing His Mother To Death
VAN NUYS (CBS) — A 26-year-old man was convicted of first-degree murder Monday for stabbing his mother to death nearly three years ago in their Reseda apartment.
Bryan Garcia-Munguia faces 26 years to life behind bars when he is sentenced on May 4.
His mother, Saida Munguia, 40, was killed on May 31, 2009.
Family members found her body the following day inside the apartment she shared with her son in the 7600 block of Reseda Boulevard.
Authorities say she had been stabbed several times.
Garcia-Munguia was arrested later that day, after meeting with relatives who subdued him until police arrived at a Denny's restaurant.
Family members and neighbors told police that the mother and son had a rocky relationship, especially during the week prior to her death.
