Pasadena Police Identify Robbery Suspect Killed In Officer-Involved Shooting

PASADENA (CBS) — Pasadena police have identified a man killed in an officer-involved shooting, department officials announced Sunday.

The shooting happened while officers were responding to a call of an armed robbery at about 11 p.m. Saturday, Lt. Tracey Ibarra of the Pasadena Police Department said.

Officers arrived at Orange Grove Boulevard and Summit Avenue and chased two suspects who were running away.

Police said one of the suspects tried to reach for his waistband when officers opened fire.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Kendrec Lavelle McDade, of Azusa, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Pasadena Star News reported that no weapon was recovered.

The second suspect, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested soon after, Lt. Phlunte Riddle said.
