High Winds Keep Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Closed
PALM SPRINGS (CBS) — The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway remained closed Saturday because of high winds.
"It was determined not to open prior to opening that due to wind gusts measuring 50-60mph at the towers and Mountain Station," said Public Affairs Manager Lena Zimmerschied.
It was not immediately clear when the tramway would reopen.
On Jan. 21, wind gusts of between 80-90 mph prompted closure of the tramway, stranding about 20 people at the top ranger station overnight.
