Arraignment Postponed For Woman Accused Of Drowning Her 2 Daughters

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Arraignment was postponed Thursday for a South Los Angeles mother accused of drowning her two young daughters.

Lorna Valle, 32, faces murder charges in the deaths of her 1-year-old daughter, Lindsay, and her 5-year-old daughter, Marian, who was on life support the week before her death.

Valle is also charged with two felony counts of assault on a child causing death.

She was arrested after police were called to the family's home in the 900 block of West 50th Place on Feb. 15.

Valle's husband, Jose Taque, returned home to find the girls naked, wet, and unresponsive on the floor, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Neighbors say Valle, who is being held on $1.5 million bail, was suicidal in the weeks leading up to last month's incident.

Valle's court-appointed attorney told CBS's Dave Lopez that she was investigating her clients alleged attempts to get help with mental health issue.She also said she is exploring a  not guilty by reason of insanity defense for her client.

Valle will return to court on April 19.
