MONTEBELLO (CBS) – A murder charge was filed Tuesday against a 72-year-old man who allegedly strangled his 63-year-old wife at a senior center in Montebello.

Baghdo Hayrapetyan is accused in the March 5 slaying of his wife, Anahit.

Police found Anahit dead when they arrived at the center in the 2000 block of West Whittier Boulevard.

Authorities say Baghdo was found in critical condition with self-inflicted stab wounds. He was placed under arrest at County-USC Medical Center, where he remains hospitalized.

Plans for Hayrapetyan’s arraignment were not immediately available.
