Norwalk Father Accused Of Drugging, Raping Baby-Sitter

NORWALK (CBS) — A man authorities say raped a young woman he hired to baby-sit his children may have done the same thing to other women.

Kevin Cady, 53, was arrested last week on suspicion of drugging and raping a 22-year-old woman he hired through an online baby-sitting service to watch his children while he was at work.

Police say Cady returned home from work early on Jan. 11 and offered the baby-sitter a drink he had prepared. She drank the drink and began to feel sleepy, waking up later to find Cady sexually assaulting her, sheriff's deputies said.

The woman fled Cady's apartment and called police. Deputies detained Cady, but hewas released pending further investigation and results of a toxicology report.

A toxicology report more than a month later showed the woman had been dosed with a drug normally used in hospitals before surgical procedure that causes drowsiness and memory loss.

Cady was arrested again Feb. 29. Sheriff's officials say he is in custody awaiting a preliminary hearing.

Anyone who experienced a similar encounter or has information about Cady can call Norwalk station Detective Marquez at (562) 863-8711.
