Additional Security To Patrol Carson High School Following Massive Brawl

CARSON (CBS) — Additional security patrolled Carson High School Thursday following a brawl involving dozens of students.

Three people were hospitalized, five others were arrested, and another 10 were cited after a fight broke out Wednesday morning.

School police say as many as 50 students were involved in brawl that began as a dispute between tagging crews.

Carson city officials say the tension between the two groups built up throughout the day before the fight broke out during a nutrition break around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The injured students were treated at Harbor General Hospital for head and stomach injuries after they were kicked and punched by their peers.

Officials say the fights were not racially motivated as was initially reported.
