Toyota Issues Safety Recall For Camrys, Venzas And Tacomas

TORRANCE (CBS) — Torrance-based Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. announced a safety recall Wednesday for some 2009 Camrys and 2009-11 Venzas to replace the stop lamp switch.

According to Toyota, silicon grease may have gotten into the switch during installation.

The vehicle may not start, or the shift lever may not shift from park. In some cases, the stop lights may not work.

Toyota says car owners will be notified by mail to make an appointment with a Toyota dealer to replace the switch at no charge.

Additionally, certain 2005 to early 2009 Tacoma trucks will be recalled to replace the steering wheel spiral cable assembly.
